"How important is mattress fabric?"
The fabric of the mattress is as important as its inner materials. That is why we use 100% cotton fabric in all our mattresses. Our main concern is to maintain a cover made of 100% natural material that will breathe and be easily removed for washing. We have not succumbed to the impressive quilted fabrics that contain polyester wadding which, due to limited breathability, contributes to intense night sweats.
"Dilemma. Firm or elastic mattress?”
There is no general rule. We choose the mattress that best suits our body. If we end up between two mattresses, the theory says we should choose the more firm of the two. Because in case we realize that we made the wrong choice, we can improve the elasticity of a firm mattress with a top mattress, while we cannot harden a soft mattress.
"Should I choose a mattress-topper package?"
Contrary to the dictates of an aggressive sales policy, our philosophy is to first choose a mattress that makes you feel good. Sleep on it for a period of time and if you eventually realize that you would like a more elastic result, you can add the mattress topper later.
“Tall mattress for comfort. Myth or reality?”
In recent years, models of mattresses with a very tall height have appeared, just to impress. Most of them have a high spring system (to keep costs down) at their center, rather than solid material. As a negative effect, a high center of gravity is created and when we turn sideways, we feel a strong "wobble". A general rule in bedding industry is that an adult mattress should be no lower than 16cm. From there on, an adult mattress can be designed that will manage to provide the ideal comfort.
"What is the role of the mattress topper?"
The mattress topper for domestic use has only one mission, to increase the final elasticity of a mattress by reducing the pressure that the body receives. By choosing one of the TAILORBED toppers that suits you, you upgrade your sleep. A topper can extend the life of a mattress. They work together as a sleep system since they are supportive and it absorbs some of the pressures it receives every day.
"How important is the surface we place our mattress on?"
The importance of the surface on which we place our mattress plays a catalytic role both in the final feeling we enjoy from it and in its lifespan. The ideal choice is a flat surface created from flat bed slats. Frames that have flexible bed slats contribute to unnatural sagging of the mattress, especially at the point of the pelvis, which is the heaviest, with the result that it shortens its lifespan. It is also good to avoid straight "closed" surfaces made of solid or semi-solid wood since they do not allow the mattress to breathe.
“Will a topper renew my old mattress?”
A mattress topper (not down) cannot renew a worn mattress that has developed pits or bumps. The mattress topper will adapt to any irregularity in the mattress, and show it on its surface.
“How do I choose the right pillow?”
The right pillow is the one that supports our neck in such a way that our neck aligns with the rest of our torso with a slight forward tilt. In other words, the correct posture, on our mattress and pillow, is the one we have when we are standing. With pillows that have a fixed thickness, we simply try and find the pillow that works for us. With adjustable pillows, the choice is a little easier since we can add and remove from the inner material to find the ideal sleeping position.
"Does a tall sleep system matter?"
A tall sleeping system (bed+mattress+topper) helps to avoid strain on the user's knees and waist. As we say at TAILORED it is easier for someone to “hop off” the bed than to push themselves up. When we wake up in the morning, the body is "cold" and sudden movements pose a risk of muscle injury.
“Feather topper or elastic topper?”
It depends on the reason that prompts us to choose a mattress topper. If we want to increase the elasticity of a firm mattress, we choose a topper with solid material inside. In case we want the feeling of sleeping "in the clouds" we choose the down topper.
“Why should I choose a king size bed?”
For an enjoyable sleep, a very good mattress is not enough. The available space we have during sleep also plays an important role. A large bed will contribute to your comfort and rest, better than a small one.
“Discounts. Real or a marketing tool?”
We at TAILORBED believe in real discounts and fair prices all year round. Impressive discounts in most cases hide fictitious real prices behind them. No company sells below cost, and when they give a large percentage discount they have it before incorporating it into the original price. By definition sleep products are not seasonal and discounts are not a management tool e.g. to empty a warehouse full of products that will burden the company's net worth. In addition, we do not subsidize with the money that a consumer will pay in the period when there are no sales, the purchase that someone will make during the sales period. We prefer to have a fair price all year round and give a discount percentage depending on the payment method someone chooses.
